Nationale-Nederlanden Becomes Title Sponsor of the Dam tot Damloop

Nationale-Nederlanden (part of NN Group) has become the first-ever title sponsor of one of the largest and most popular running events in the Netherlands. For the next four editions, the event, which is organized for the 38th time this year, will be called the NN Dam tot Damloop. By embracing this leading run, Nationale-Nederlanden (NN) takes the next step in its mission to get and keep as many people as possible active. This mission aligns seamlessly with the ambitions of Le Champion, the organizer of the Dam tot Damloop. It was also announced that Fonds Gehandicaptensport (Disabled Sports Fund) will be the charity of choice for the coming years.

Sunday, September 22, 46,000 runners will line up at the start of the running event of the year. With its unmatched atmosphere at Prins Hendrikkade, the passage through the IJtunnel, and the finish on Peperstraat in Zaandam, the Dam tot Damloop has grown into one of the largest and most renowned running events in the country. Annually, the run attracts tens of thousands of runners of all ages and levels. In addition, with its unique route from Amsterdam to Zaandam, the event has made a name for itself with the Dam tot Dam Business Run; one of the world’s largest business runs.

Supporter of all runners
The announcement that NN will be the main sponsor of the Dam tot Damloop for the next four editions fits perfectly with the financial service provider’s sharpened sports sponsorship strategy. “Both internationally and in the Netherlands, we want to be not just a sponsor but a true supporter of all runners. With events like the NN Marathon Rotterdam and the NN CPC Loop Den Haag, we cater to many advanced runners,” says Mariëlle Krouwel, CMO of NN Group. “Recently, we introduced the NN Running Coach together with the Atletiekunie (Dutch Athletics Union) to let people who have not yet started running discover the joy of the sport. The shorter distances of the Dam tot Damloop (5 and 10 English Miles) are naturally a great challenge for specifically this group. This partnership rounds out our sponsorship program in the Netherlands beautifully and helps further contribute to the mental and physical well-being of as large a group of people as possible.”

Fonds Gehandicaptensport (Disabled Sports Fund) as the charity
As the title sponsor, NN will not only carry the event’s name but also support a wide range of activities aimed at enhancing the running joy of as diverse a group of participants as possible. Besides the integration of the NN Running Coach, another outcome is the collaboration with Fonds Gehandicaptensport (Disabled Sports Fund) and its designation as the charity for the upcoming editions. “This symbolizes, in my view, our joint societal ambitions. We are therefore extremely proud to welcome NN as the title sponsor of the Dam tot Damloop," says René Wit, Deputy Director of Le Champion, the organization behind the Dam tot Damloop. "The involvement of Nationale-Nederlanden in this iconic running event underscores their commitment to people's well-being. In 2025, we will also organize the 50th edition of the NN Egmond Half Marathon with them. We are convinced that this partnership will further contribute to strengthening the position of the NN Dam tot Damloop as one of the most beloved sports events in the Netherlands and beyond."

About the NN Dam tot Damloop
The NN Dam tot Damloop is one of the most iconic running events in the Netherlands. What started as a small-scale event in 1985 has grown into a spectacular event that fills both Amsterdam and Zaandam with energy and enthusiasm. The Dam tot Dam Weekend is the largest sporting weekend in the Netherlands, with over 75,000 athletes participating. On Saturday, Le Champion organizes the Pink Ribbon Dam tot Dam Wandeltocht with 14,000 walkers. As evening falls, 12,000 runners participate in the Damloop by night, and the following day 4,000 cyclists start the Saxo Dam tot Dam FietsClassic. Together with participants, partners, supporters, volunteers, and residents, Le Champion turns it into a major sports weekend every year. The organization is already seeing a rush on the bib numbers. Companies participating in the Business Run have been able to register since February 19, and members of Le Champion have been able to register since Monday, April 8. From Tuesday, April 23, all runners will be able to register for the 38th edition of the NN Dam tot Damloop.
